Meet the Coastal Hearing Solutions Family

Coastal Hearing Solutions has quite the pedigree when it comes to hearing aid assistance. We branched from the family tree started by Addie Peterson in 1983 as New Sound Hearing Aid Service. Addie’s daughter, Teresa, had found herself spending more and more time helping her mom with both the Wilmington and Jacksonville offices. Over the next 15 years, her responsibilities continued to grow, and Teresa responded to demands beautifully, becoming a fully certified hearing aid specialist and receiving her North Carolina licensure in 2006.

Today, Teresa is the primary hearing aid specialist, with her mother Addie now in semi-retirement. But the family business continues to expand - and not only will Coastal Hearing Solutions open an office in Southport, NC in early 2008, but Teresa’s niece Crystal is following in her aunt’s footsteps and will have her own full NC licensure next year!

Teresa Boggs

A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Teresa’s passion is helping people hear better. She has been involved with the family business since 1993 when she began working with her mother at New Sound Hearing Aid Service serving in various capacities. She received her North Carolina Hearing Instrument Specialist license in May of 2006. When her mother retired in September of 2007, Teresa and her husband Steve bought the business and renamed the company Coastal Hearing Solutions. The new name better reflects the mindset that Teresa has for the business — providing a total solution to improved hearing by serving patients with cutting-edge technology at a fair price.

Teresa has also served mission work through the Hearing Foundation in Cali, Columbia where she provided hearing aids to children needing hearing assistance. A mother of 4, and a stepmother to 3 more, she is a proud supporter of our armed forces. Two of her sons are now serving in the military, one in the Air Force and one in the Marine Corps. Teresa is also a Deaconess in her church, Living Water Ministries.

Steve Boggs

Steve has been involved in helping area residents hear better since September 2007, when he and Teresa bought New Sound Hearing Aid Service and created Coastal Hearing Solutions. Steve has extensive experience in business sales and management. He was previously the Directory Manager for Talking Phone Book, an independent phone book publisher. His tenure saw sales increases in the company’s markets in Jacksonville and Wilmington, plus the start-up of directories in Rocky Mount, New Bern and Morehead City. He has received a number of sales achievement awards with The Talking Phone Book and with Moore Business Forms.

Steve and Teresa have 7 wonderful children, and they serve as Deacons in their church, Living Water Ministries.

Sherri Farrow

Patient Care Coordinator

Sherri has been a “local” to Wilmington since the age of 6, and her family has been on Middle Sound since her dad took over Living Water Ministries, a church on Middle Sound Road.

In addition to being a mom to son Alex and wife to local radio personality Mike Farrow, Sherri’s been a friend to Teresa Boggs for more than 30 years. She began working with New Sound Hearing Aid Service in December 2006 and stayed with us through the transition to Coastal Hearing Solutions in November 2007.

Sherri’s is the first face you see as you enter the office in Wilmington. Always friendly and helpful, she takes pride in helping our patients and she is the contact for scheduling, tracking repairs and handling the front office.

Mary Coombs

Corporate Accountant

Mary is retired from E.I. Dupont and Computer Sciences Corporation after a career of 33 years in computer operations.
She has been employed in the hearing care industry since 2003. During that time, she worked as New Sound Hearing Aid Service’s patient care coordinator and accounting manager. With Coastal Hearing Solutions, she is the corporate accountant and is in charge of various duties including accounts receivable and payable.

Mary and husband Ben have been married for 41 years and make their home in Holden Beach. They have a son, a daughter and 4 grandchildren.

Crystal Jordan

Originally from Wilmington, Crystal is the niece of Teresa and Steve, and she is continuing the family tradition of helping others hear better. A graduate of Pender Senior High School, Crystal started with Coastal Hearing Solutions in September 2007. She is currently a licensed Apprentice with the North Carolina Hearing Aid Dealer and Fitters Board. She also has a personal interest in supporting our military, as her brother currently serves in the Air Force.
